Some people use holidays for chilling out at a sunny beach, maybe finally also to read the books they always wanted
to read, others enjoy to sleep till midday to then do some sightseeing in town. Some relax in their garden, have barbeques with friends, other prefer to party at gigs or visit operas or museums. Let us not forget those, who get a kick from forcing themselves to the limits. Yep, I am talking about our Steve, who would easily qualify as a ''test pilot for bicycles''...

On Tuesday, 14th of September 2004, Steve started a 700 miles cycling trip in Biariz in the South-West of France. His plan: to cross the Pyraneen Mountains and cycle all the way to Santiago in the North-West of Spain. Steve reached Santiago after 10 days and 1000 km on 23rd September.

14.Sept. 2004 - Reached St.Jean Pied-de-Port in Pyreneen Mountains, 67 km today. Rain all afternoon!
15.Sept. 2004 - I am in Puente La Reina (20 km SW of Pamplona). Crossed Pyrenees today... Strenuous cycling over 3 huge passes. In a nice hotel now with bottle of wine!
16.Sept. 2004 - Najera. Area of Rioja wine! 110 km today.
17.Sept. 2004 - Hola! I am in Burgos. 98 km today with a huge climb onto the central plateau of Spain. 30 degrees today too. No rain!
18.Sept. 2004 - Hi. I am at Carrion de Los Condes in middle of Spain. 102 km today.
19.Sept. 2004 - I am just to the west of Leon. 128 km today. Very tired!
20.Sept. 2004 - Hi, I am now in Ponferrada. Tired again, huge hills today! Good weather.
21.Sept. 2004 - Hi. Now at Sarria, just south of Lugo. 108 km today. Huge climb 4 hours!
22.Sept. 2004 - Hi! I am at Arzua, 30 km east of Santiago. 97 lm today, very strenuous cycling, lots of hills all day. Very tired again!
23.Sept. 2004 - Santiago. I am here at the cathedral. 44 km today, over 1000 total. Beer time! Weather fab! Steve
